VP Debate Report Card on Accuracy: C

The VP debates last night didn’t give most Americans the gaffe-fest they were looking for, but the commentary didn’t stay rooted in the facts either.

According to FactCheck.org, the following “facts” were twisted by Palin:
  • Iraq troop levels have returned to pre-surge levels    FALSE
  • Obama voted to increase taxes on families making $42,000    FALSE
  • McCains health care plan is budget neutral    FALSE
  • Obama’s plan would increase taxes on millions of small businesses    FALSE

The following facts were twisted by Biden:
  • McCain “voted the exact same way” as Obama on the troop funding bill   FALSE
  • McCain “voted the exact same way” as Obama on the “tax increase on singles making $42,000   FALSE
In addition to the skewed facts above, there was misleading information put out by both candidates.  Final grades:  Palin C, Biden B.  But the American people gave solid feedback that this debate was much better than the Presidential debate last week.  Voters noted the candidates were friendly, professional and appeared to be having fun in comparison to the Obama  McCain debate.  It seems Americans like a spoonful of sugar while they are swallowing their politicians lies.
